October 3rd – German Unity Day

On Friday, October 3rd, 2025, Germany celebrates the Day of German Unity – the national holiday marking the reunification of East and West Germany.
On October 3rd, 1990, the Unification Treaty came into effect: the GDR was integrated into the Federal Republic, restoring state unity. The holiday commemorates the Peaceful Revolution of 1989 and has been a nationwide public holiday ever since.
